Essence bestselling author Victor McGlothin almost lost an athletic scholarship due to poor reading skills. Ultimately, he overcame that obstacle and later completed a Masters degree in Human Relations & Business. After he developed a love for the written word, Victor left a vice president position with a local bank to pursue a career in literature. He now lives in the Dallas area with his wife and two sons. I've always loved telling stories, just ask anyone who knew me in my youth. They'd say, "that Victor sho' can lie!" They were right, I could come up with some whoppers; still can. Now I'm trying to earn a living writing fiction… telling lies. Some things never change. "Oh man, I love my job."

YOU CAN'T KEEP A "GOOD" WOMAN DOWN . . .

She can get any man burning up her satin sheets, paying her bills, and keeping her in Dolce G and Prada. And sexy, sizzling Dior definitely doesn't "do" church or aspire to anything more than drama-free, cash-rich relationships. But charismatic Pastor Richard Allamay is one temptation she won't resist-and Dior will do anything to become the new "First Lady" of his wildly successful megachurch. Soon she's stripping away Richard's Godly principles, putting him at odds with his congregation, and throwing the lives of his insecure wife and bewildered children into turmoil. It will take a chain of events no one could have imagined-and only God could have planned-for hearts to be healed, transgressions forgiven, and one outrageous, conniving diva allotted the reward she deserves.

Publisher’s Weekly Magazine -- McGlothin’s steamy sequel to Sinful reveals what happens when the wicked Dior Wicker determines to marry Dallas pastor Richard Allamay, star of Church TV’s High Praise and “shepherd of Methodist Episcopal Greater Apostolic Church” (M.E.G.A. Church, for short). Lust drives Richard to strange lengths in his attempts to impress Dior (he misuses church money, and lies to his family and cheats on his wife). McGlothin unravels at a relentless pace a sexy and twisted story of marital and spiritual unfaithfulness… Eric Jerome Dickey, watch out.

"The Lazarus Man" by J.D. Mason
When a young female city employee is murdered, the case brings together an unlikely team: an investigative reporter whose career is on the line, a lead detective who would rather work alone, and an elderly, delusional homeless man named Lazarus who frequents the shelter where the victim volunteered. Lazarus claims he witnessed the killing--though his hold on reality is questionable. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and with the detective at the helm, the trio soon unearths a shocking truth no one would have ever suspected...

"Tomorrow's Edge" by Victor McGlothin
Smart, sexy P.I. Vera Miles is an expert at finding people who don't want to be found. But her latest client is a rare, and possibly dangerous, exception: a handsome drifter with amnesia who believes he's killed someone--though he can't remember who or why. Is the man guilty of murder or innocent and in big trouble? With no clues, Vera takes a shot in the dark that sends her on a trail from the local diner to the medical examiner's office to the seedy digs of a street informant, all the way to the FBI. Mary Monroe And Victor McGlothin

ISBN: 0758212232
Pub. Date: December 28, 2006
Format: Hardcover, 320pp
Publisher: Kensington Publishing Corporation

Mary Monroe & McGlothin

Monroe (God Don't Like Ugly) and McGlothin (Down on My Knees) each contribute a short novel to this curiously packaged product. Monroe's Nightmare in Paradise features 31-year-old Renee, a second grade teacher and self-proclaimed "Miss Goody Two-Shoes" who, with wild best friend Inez, goes to the Caribbean to "get loose." Frustration with her own meek nature and an admission by Inez--she slept with Renee's husband before they married--propel Renee into a one-night stand that results in her arrest for prostitution. When husband Leon won't pony up the fine, Renee is jailed for three months--plenty of time to decide who stays in her life. Monroe's earnest melodrama suffers, however, from its proximity to McGlothin's dazzling Bad Luck Shadow. Set in 1946, the story's hero is Baltimore Floyd, a dashing scoundrel with charisma to burn. Fleeing Harlem and a gambling debt, Baltimore steals into a neon-lit Kansas City, where he holes up in old love Franchetta's cathouse and plans the takedown of a high-stakes card game. McGlothin's tale is sophisticated and sexy, with the plotting and pacing of first-rate noir. If cross-promotion is the impetus for this project, Monroe may earn a few new readers, but McGlothin's fan base is sure to swell.  –Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.

God. It’s me again- Grace. I sure hope you’re listening because I really need you to hear me tonight. I know that you’re well versed on my shortcomings concerning sins of the flesh, so I’ll get right to it. Lately, my desires have gotten the best of me. This celibacy thing we’ve talked about, isn’t working out quite like I’d hoped. It seems that the harder I try to do right, the more I want to do wrong. Not that it’s an excuse it’s just that I get so lonely sometimes. I’ve even fooled myself into thinking that sharing a man’s warm embrace could somehow satisfy those urges but it’s never enough. Eventually, I find myself wanting more and more until, well, you know the rest. I guess what I’m saying, what I’m praying for, is some extra consideration this evening because that old feeling has me wanting to do the kinds of things I promised I wouldn’t. You know my weakness, so I’m asking for the strength to make it through the night. Thank you God, for hearing me out. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
