Author: Roslyn Carrington For me, A Thirst For Rain represents what I love most about Trinidad, where I grew up and still live: the grandeur of nature, the sweet simplicity of life, and the strong sense of community. But A Thirst For Rain is also about mothers and daughters, fathers and daughters, and fathers and sons. It is about the need we all have to see our parents as heroes, and the pain we feel when they fall short of this ideal. It laments the great risk facing fatherless children in a world just waiting to engulf them and poison them with its cruelty.
But of course, A Thirst For Rain is also about love. In it, a lost, tired and wounded prize-fighter, Jacob, regains his manhood and becomes a hero again when he steps forward to defend the honour of Myra, a woman he had loved from afar but never believed he was worthy of holding. A Thirst For Rain is a story from my heart. I am
honoured to be able to share it with you.
