Thumper::
Hello Marcus. How are you doing this evening?

 casey:
hey marcus

 marcusmajor: Fine, thanks

 marcusmajor: hi casey

 marcusmajor: how is iowa

 marcusmajor: ?

 Thumper:
Who's in Iowa?

marcusmajor: oops thats carey that lives in iowa...

 casey:
question ?where do you get your story lines from like for instancce in a man most worthy is this something you experienced?

 Thumper:
Marcus: Yeah, that's Carey. He's going to be flattered.

marcusmajor: some of the school scenes were based on personal experience.

 casey:
casey lives in atlanta

 Thumper:
What made you write A Man Most Worthy?

marcusmajor: i wanted to show how a man can have all the material trappings and still be unfulfilled.

 Linda: LOGGED IN

 Thumper:
Hello Linda

 casey:
hey linda

marcusmajor: i wanted to question how we as a society define success.

 marcusmajor: hi linda

 Linda: Hello everyone...sorry i'm late

 Thumper:
Marcus: You also featured a leading female character that wasn't skinny and size 6. That's quite a change from the normal fare.

marcusmajor: i was talking to sistas on tour, they told me how nice it would be to see a normal sized protagonist.

 casey:
well john sbastian certainly had all the money and success ,but was not happy until back with his true love

 Linda:
I am glad you decided to listen to them marcus...if i read about one more perfect woman...uggg

marcusmajor: yes casey, and he's questioning why he's not happy. he thought money was the key to happiness.

 marcusmajor: thanks linda

 Linda:
I myself identify success to acomplishing my goals I set for myself and not what others set for me

 Thumper:
Marcus, can you clear something up for me, what happened to John's parents?

 Linda:
you're very welcome Marcus...i like realism

marcusmajor: good question. they are deceased. i decided not to state how.

 Linda:
What lead you to that decision...

marcusmajor: i wanted john's upbringing to be one of turmoil and flux. as far as not saying how they died, i did not want to be sterotypical drug induced death, and then decided to leave it open.

 Thumper:
Another thing that I loved about the book was Jules and Gloria. They were just as interesting as John and Josephine. Jules daughter was a TRIP!! I loved that little girl when she asked Gloria if she could break Jules off some. *LOL*

 casey:

marcusmajor: its fun writing little kids.

 casey:
yeah and when she told off johns young girlfriend at the basketball game

 Linda:
do you find riting about kids easier because of their simplicity

 marcusmajor:
she was being grown

 Thumper:
Casey: That was funny!! Marcus: Now, I usually don't like little kids because the authors tend to make them too goody goody for me. But, you made a believer out of me with that one.

 marcusmajor:
much eaiser then writing women, that is very difficult for me.

 Linda:

 marcusmajor:
thanks thumper

 Thumper:
I think you do fine job writing women characters.

 marcusmajor:
i'm getting better at writing females. I'm becoming a better listener.

 Thumper:
Hello again. I apologize for the break.

 Linda:
So that's the problem I have writing men...I'm not listening

 Thumper:
A Man Most Worthy is different from 4 Guys and Trouble. What made you write 4 Guys and Trouble? It took me back to one of those 1940's romantic comedies.

 casey:
i think that in a man most worthy you were on target with the women like when josie and gloria had their girl talk - do you have sisters who give you adviceon certain scenes?

marcusmajor: no casey, i do not have any sisters, but i am very proud of the josie and gloria scenes. i feel it is some of the best stuff i have written so far.

 casey:

 Linda:
Any hints on your next novel

marcusmajor: an older couple in their late 50's are going through rough times.

marcusmajor: the man fears getting old.

 Thumper:

 Thumper:
Now that's interesting.

 Linda:
How you chosen what city is the stomping grounds for this one

marcusmajor: back to philly, they are the parents of previous characters.

 Thumper:
Is it getting harder to come up with ideas for new novels?

marcusmajor: yes. and dickey tells me that its only going to get harder.

 Thumper:
Marcus, are you talking about the people from Good Peoples?

 casey:
oh so kinda like a series?

 marcusmajor: yes

marcusmajor: no casey, its not exactly a sequel because the focus is on different characters.

 casey:
okay so which book are they the parents of?

 Linda:
Will this be the last of this series

marcusmajor: amir and myles from good peoples.

 marcusmajor: yes linda.

 Thumper:

 Linda:
Can we expect a lot of drama with this next one

 Thumper:
I like that you're always changing and not falling into trap of writing the same ol', same ol'.

 Thumper:
illegitimate children and thangs?

 marcusmajor:
a little drama linda, not carl weber drama, but a little bit

 Linda:

marcusmajor: i do not want to repeat myself, thumper.

 Thumper:
that last sentence was connected to linda's question.

marcusmajor: not with this one, maybe in book five.

 Thumper:
Is being a full-time writer everything that you hoped and dreamed it would be?

 Linda:
I think it will be refreshing to see a normal couple having normal problems...like growing old...breaks up all that go girl stuff

marcusmajor: its a lot lonlier than i thought it would be thumper.

 Thumper:

 marcusmajor: I miss teaching.

 casey:

 Thumper:
I can see that. Do you miss teaching? Interacting with young minds.

 marcusmajor: yes thumper.

 Thumper:
Sorry. about that.

marcusmajor: mostly i miss interacting with any human beings. writing is so solitary.

 Thumper:
Well Marcus, ain't no law that says you can't go back. Become a John Sebestian.

 casey:
oh so you write full time

 Linda:
Do you ever think you will go back to teaching

marcusmajor: In sept. i'm going back to teaching.

 Thumper:

 Linda:
cause i must admit i am finding writing full time to be very lonely

 Linda:
I have to go out to find real people to write about...be in the mix

 Thumper:
That's good, man. *smile* I was about to say. You're successful. The only threat to Dickey's throne. *big smile*

marcusmajor: its hard to get back to the computer once I go out and get in the mix.

 Linda:
really...it energizes me..the conversations and actions mostly

marcusmajor: now, now we know dickey is "king"

 Thumper:

marcusmajor: some movies do that for me, linda. (foreign films mostly)

 Thumper:
Ain't he though. I love that man. But, I put you right up there with him. You stuff is fresh and vibrant.

 Linda:
Marcus...do you ever think you will write a non-fiction

 marcusmajor: thanks thumper.

 Thumper:

marcusmajor: maybe at some point linda.

 Linda:
or switch genre's

marcusmajor: i have an interest in writing other types of books.

 Thumper:

 Linda:
educational maybe

 Thumper:
What's your favorite book? What inspired you to write?

 Thumper:

marcusmajor: the autobiography of malcolm x. I've always had a love for the written word. I like how permanent and lasting reading or writing books are.

 Thumper:

 Thumper:
When you go back to teaching, what will you be teaching? Or is that a stupid question?

 Thumper:

 marcusmajor: high school english.

 Linda:
ahhh

 casey:

 Linda:
that's cool

 Thumper:
You're a brave man. *big smile*

 Linda:
when can we expect your next release

 marcusmajor: dec 2003

 Linda:

 casey:
i look forward to reading it

 Thumper:
OK, with the last few minutes left for this chat. Marcus, do you have any parting comments?

marcusmajor: I would like to thank the readers who have supported me. This career has been a blessing.

 Linda:
Much contiuned success Marcus...we got your back (smile)

 casey:

 marcusmajor: thank you linda.

 Linda:
lol

 Thumper:
Marcus, thanks for coming this evening and for writing such wonderful books. You're one of the few bright spots that I've gotten since I started this gig. It's a real pleasure.

 casey:
nice chatting with you all

marcusmajor: thanks for the support thumper; anytime.

 Linda:
keep writing Marcus and thanks for answering all my questions....agape

 Thumper:
