Kamau Daaood is a performance poet, educator, and community arts activist who is a native of Los Angeles. A former member of the Watts Writers Workshop, he is the subject of an award-winning documentary, Life is a Saxophone, and the author of two chapbooks of poetry.

Kamau, along with world-renowned master drummer, Billy Higgins, founded the World Stage Performance Gallery, and he is one of the architects of the arts movement in the Leimert Park area of Los Angeles. His most recent work is a poetry/spoken-word CD entitled Leimert Park.
